Antidote for "Progressive" Political Correctness?
While celebrating Pentecost 2009 it begs to ask why
this Christian nation is evolving from the defined boundaries of
Biblical correctness, based on God’s law, to an undefined and unfounded
“progressive” selective process of how “Rights” are “entitled” (hate
crimes legislation) and from a “limited
government” to One Nation Under Government. This “progressive” movement makes it clear that the
warnings by the very same people who established America’s Republic are
being ignored and unheeded. That foundation of Biblical moral virtue is
becoming, not only gravely diminished, but criminal, in favor of an
unfounded secularism and socialism where regulations stifle liberty and
free market enterprise. “Progressives” would have us believe that
America can obtain human-defined moral values that supersede those
Biblically defined.
For instance, abortion and same-sex marriage are
falsely promoted and taught as being “normal” when it blatantly violates
“the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” which the Declaration of
Independence established as the boundary for how “Rights” are to be
“entitled.” Yet the mainstream media, Hollywood, judges, politicians,
public and higher education are having success in duping an apathetic
complacent citizenry.
Biblical Correctness is God-defined and establishes
justice based upon personal responsibility and accountability. Political
Correctness replaces Biblical Correctness with selective anti-faith
secular laws that provide no-blame, no-fault excuses, resulting in
undefined boundaries, which have produced the news we see every day.
If not too late, perhaps revisiting these warnings
may help to restore the Republic and the American way of life that is
fast becoming obsolete. Compare the following statements against today’s
“progressive” dogma. Charles Carroll, signer of the
Declaration of Independence -
"Without
morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who
are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and
pure...are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security
for the duration of free governments."
James Madison, Primary author of the Constitution:
"We have staked the whole future
of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it.
We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the
capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and
all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain
ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."And,
"Before any man can be
considered as a member of civil society, he must be considered as a
subject of the Governor of the Universe. Religion is the basis and
foundation of government."' Noah Webster in the text book,
History of the United States, used for over 60 years in public
schools: "The moral principles and
precepts contained in the Scripture ought to form the basis of all our
civil constitutions and laws." And
"All the miseries and evils which
men suffer from - vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery,
and war - proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts
contained in the Bible."
Calvin Coolidge - "No
other theory is adequate to explain or comprehend the Declaration of
Independence. It is the product of the spiritual insight of the people.
We live in an age of science and of abounding accumulation of material
things. These did not create our Declaration. Our Declaration created
them. The things of the Spirit come first.
What is the basis for these convictions? Can’t it
be traced back to the “promise of
My Father” that Christ proclaimed (Acts 1:1-4) which was initially
imparted on the First Pentecost after His ascension? The “promise” laid the foundation whereby every individual (Acts 2:1-4,
38-39) could have God’s laws “written
in their heart” (Jeremiah 31:33-34,
Psalms 51:9-13).
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
(2 Corinthians
5:14-17). However, as Jesus pointed out to
Nicodemus (John 3), if you cannot grasp this, how will you be able to
grasp the Kingdom of God and His laws? It is essential, so it “pleased God to hide His Kingdom” from those who consider themselves
wise in this world (Matthew 11:15-27, 1 Corinthians 1). Now it
appears more and
more Americans are hardening their
hearts (Exodus 4:21, Hebrews 3:7-8) against the Creator, being
blinded by limited human
reason, pride, and ego, also foretold (2 Corinthians 4, 2 Peter 3). It
is also disturbing to witness conservatives and “God’s
elect” (Matthew 24:24) shun this
promise and the Great
Commission. Many
may be saying of this
promise of the
Holy Spirit (John
14-16), as did those at Ephesus, “We
have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost” (Acts
19:1-6). Jesus said:
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit
and in truth. …He that
believes on me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow
rivers of living water. (But this spake He of the Spirit) …It is the
Spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: (John 4:23-24,
7:38-38, 6:63) How? The Scriptures make it
clear that God is a trinity (Matthew 3:16-17, 1 John 4:7-8) and we were
created in His image (Genesis 1:26,
1 John 5:7,
1 Thessalonians 5:18-23, James 2:26). The reason for this design in
God’s image was the promise.
But there is a spirit in
man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding. Great
men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will show mine opinion
(Job 32:8-10).
The spirit of man is the
candle of the LORD…
(Proverbs 20:27).
For what man knows the things of a man, save the
spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knows no man,
but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things
that are freely given to us of God (1
Corinthians 2:11-12, John 1:1-14). Until Biblically Correct
Christians realize these truths and apply the same Biblical moral virtue
of America’s Founders (Patriot’s Declaration), we and our offspring will
continue to grope in the darkness
of mandated laws and regulations dictated by the “progressive” political
correctness of undefined boundaries. (John 3:19-21) |
