Satan, Demons, Hell, & Evil

All that is counterfeit to God's Design

We're called on to "hate the sin, but love the sinner." Satan does the opposite, hating the sinner but loving the sin. --Why We Need to Talk About Satan - By John Zmirak

It gives Satan such PRIDE and pleasure (Isaiah 14:12-15) to see his depraved PRIDEFUL adults of "reprobate minds" (Romans 1:16-32) sacrificing children into his counterfeit delusions of darkness in order to mock God's design and laws of nature and the Light of Jesus which "shines out of the darkness" (John 1:4-5, 3:19-21).

Depraved "fools" and "reprobate minds" fall foolishly into Satan's entrapment and become opposed to God's design of nature's boundaries He decrees for a wholesome and just civil society, thus revealing that Satan, who is seeking anyone he can devour, with all that is counterfeit to God's creation and Laws of Nature. "Reprobate minds" such as LGBTQA, are making an abomination of God's design of marriage, family, with Satan's counterfeits of same-sex marriage, transgenders, gender delusion, sex with children, and any other depravity that undermines God's Word. Their Marxist "Utopia" resembling Sodom and Gomorrah is already producing a despicable devastation. "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools..."

Revelation 12:9 - And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Jesus said of Satan: "The thief comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)  And of Hell: "Where their worm doesn't die, and the fire is not quenched." Mark 9:46-47

Satan: God's Word refers to Satan as the "god of this world, Devil, accuser, adversary, old serpent, ruler of darkness..."

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. --Isaiah 14:12-15

Satan knows the Word of God as he proved in tempting Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11)
as he quotes Deuteronomy 8:3 and Psalm 91:11-12.

Jesus called Satan the prince or ruler of this world. (John 12:31) Paul called him the prince or the power of the air. (Ephesians 2:2)

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. (2 Corinthians 2:11) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)

Satan's goal is to hide the truth of the gospel in order to keep unbelievers in his grasp. How does he accomplish this? The Greek word tuphloo, translated "blinded" in this verse, means, "to dull the intellect."

Ephesians 2:1-5 - And you has He quickened (John 6:63), who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.  (1 John 4:4)

Why We Need to Talk About Satan - By John Zmirak ...Those who surrender timeless, apostolic, biblical moral teachings in order to "get along" with the Zeitgeist aren't acting like Jesus at all. Not in any way. We might call their behavior "biblical," insofar as they are imitating Caiaphas, and affirming along with him and the other Sadducees (collaborators with Pilate): "We have no king but Caesar!"

...Don't cave in, shut up, or back down. Stay calm, and keep asking, "Why?" Press the person you're arguing with hard enough, and eventually he'll admit that he believes same-sex intercourse, sex change operations, and hormonal sterilization for temporarily confused kids, aren't wrong. At least, not wrong in the icky, tacky, ugly and universally condemned way that racist actions are. Keep pressing to find out in what way these new, fashionable sex sins are wrong, and eventually your "affirming" friend will admit that he doesn't really condemn them. The actions, I mean. But if he's clever, he'll switch gears and start muttering proof texts such as "Judge not, lest you be judged." You should respond, "Does that apply to racists, too? To Nazis?"

...The One We Are Called to Hate: ...We're called on to "hate the sin, but love the sinner." Satan does the opposite, hating the sinner but loving the sin. And that's why we must talk about the Devil. That's why I keep writing about the demonic intelligences behind the abortion industry, the transgender frenzy, the Woke cult and its new gospel of the antichrist. We must rage against such evils, and their real authors. We must not, and dare not, demonize the victims of these evils. Our Enemy is not the woman aborting her baby, and not even (finally) the profiteer who scrapes out her child. It's not the confused "transgender" person who's poisoning and mutilating his body, or even finally the big Pharma executive getting rich from it.

[W]e are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Art By Debbie Clark

Who is the "thief" Jesus typified in John 10:10? Jesus in addressing the scribes and Pharisees said: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." (John 8:44) - - The "thief" is an offspring of Satan (Genesis 3), false teachers and prophets, who in the same manner wish to cause evil.

He (Jesus) answered and said unto them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. --Matthew 13:37-42

Revelation 20:7-15 - The Defeat of Satan - Then when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be loosed from his prison and he will come out to deceive the heathens who are in the four corners of the earth, (Ezekiel 7:2) Gog and Magog, (Ezekiel 38:2-39:10) to gather them for the war, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

And they went up upon the breadth of the earth and they surrounded the army of the saints and the beloved city, and fire descended from the sky and consumed them. (2 Kings 1:10, Ezekeil 38:22; 39:6)

Then the devil, the one who was deceiving them, was thrown violently into the lake of fire and brimstone (Isaiah 30:33, Genesis 19:24, Ezekiel 38:22, Psalms 11:6) in which place also the beast and the false prophet had been cast, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Judgment at the Great White Throne: Then I saw a great white throne and the One Who sits upon it, from Whose presence the earth (Psalms 114:3, 7) and the sky fled and a place was not found for them.

Then I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. And scrolls were opened, and another scroll was opened, which is of life, (Exodus 32:32, 33, Psalms 69:29, Daniel 12:1) and the dead were judged according to their deeds, (Isaiah 59:18, Jeremiah 17:10, Psalms 28:4; 62:13, Proverbs 24:12, Romans 2:6, 1 Corinthians 3:8) by what had been written in the scrolls. (Daniel 7:9, 10)

Then the sea gave up the dead that were in it and Death and Hades gave up the dead, those in them, and each was judged according to his works.

Then Death and Hades were thrown violently into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if someone was not found written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the lake of fire. (Isaiah 30:33)

"Whenever and where ever the devil can get you to doubt the Word of God the result is always the same: an ultimate shipwreck of your faith and heart oppressed by doubts and fears." -- Charles S. Price (And Signs Followed)

1 Peter 5:8-9 - You must now be sober, you must now be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour: whom you must immediately resist, strong in faith, since you know that the same sufferings are laid upon the brotherhood throughout the world.

John 10:10 - The thief does not come except that he would steal and he would kill and he would destroy...

Ephesians 6:10-17 - From now on, you must right away become strong in the Lord and in the power of His strength. You must continually be clothed with the full armor of God to enable you to stand against the strategies of the devil: because the wrestling for us is not with blood and flesh, but with the rulers, with the powers, with the world rulers of this darkness, with the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenlies. Because of this you must immediately take up the full armor of God, so that you would be able to resist in the evil day and when you have completely achieved all things, to stand. Therefore you should stand, after you have girded around your waist the belt of truth and have put on the breastplate of righteousness (Isaiah 11:5; 59:17) and have put sandals on your feet in preparation for the gospel of peace, (Isaiah 11:6-10; 52:7) in all things having taken up the long shield of faith, with which you have been enabled to extinguish all the burning arrows of the evil one: (Psalms 7:13) and you must immediately take up the helmet of salvation (Isaiah 59:17) and the sword4 of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. (Isaiah 11:4; 49:2, Hosa 6:5)

Satan is a rebellious fallen angel driven by envy and pride, he existence is dedicated to undermining God's creation. He is the "father of lies," a murderer, deceiver, tempter, and uses "fools" to create counterfeit designs of God's creation, with the most disturbing being that of marriage and family, as they are the basis and foundation that God provided in establishing civil societies.

Demons - Satan's "angels"

Demons are under Satan (Matthew 12:24-30), powerful (Luke 8:29), numerous (Mark 5:8-9), unclean (Matthew 10:1), can possess humans (Matthew 8:29), overcome men (Acts 19:13-16), instigate error (1 Timothy 4:1), and know their destiny (Matthew 8:29).

Hell

Prepared for Satan, his demons and all who do not "know" Jesus "which do iniquity."

The "everlasting fire is prepared for the devil (Satan) and his angels (demons)." (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 19:20, 20:10). Satan does not reside in hell (2 Corinthians 4:4). Hell is where he will be cast. (Revelation 20:7-15)

Luke 12:4-7 - "But I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after these things they do not have anything more they can do. But I shall show you something you should fear: you must now fear the One Who after He kills has authority to throw you into Gehenna. Indeed I say to you, you must now fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for two assarions? And not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God. But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. You must not be afraid: you are worth more than many sparrows."

(Gehenna is the Greek spelling of the Hebrew term, Ge Hinnom, for valley of Hinnom, the place outside Jerusalem where garbage, trash, dead animals, and even executed criminals were disposed of. Fires burned continuously to get rid of the trash and also the bodies. Worms lived in whatever had not been consumed by the fires. The smoke, fires, and worms were a constant reminder to the residents and visitors to Jerusalem of the description of Sheol, so Gehenna was used as a synonym for Sheol. From early in the history of Israel this valley was used for human sacrifices, offerings of babies to the heathen god, Moloch. Joshua 15:8 is the earliest reference, then Joshua 18:16, Jeremiah 7:32; 19:2, 6; 32:35, and 2 Chronicles 28:3, and 2 Kings 23:10 uses the full name of the valley, Valley of the Sons of Hinnom. Hinnom means wailing, lamentation.-- One New Man Bible: Revealing Jewish Root and Power)

Revelation 21:6-8 - And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it. (Isaiah 5:13-14)

2 Peter 2:4-9 - For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Matthew 13:41-43 - The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Jesus also depicts hell in Luke 12:4-4, Luke 16:19-31, and Mark 9:41-50.

1 John 3:8 - For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-17 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.  And he said unto me, It is done. (Revelation 21:5-8)

The question of evil

To answer the question "How could God let this happen?," we could go to Einstein's rebuke of a professor using temperature. Cold does not exist; it is a lack of heat. We do not measure how cold something is; we measure how hot something is. It is not that God allowed it to happen; God has been uninvited from our schools, trains, and public places.  The basic laws of society have been banned. God has not allowed anything to happen. We as a world have ignored our Creator's guidelines and are playing God. --Eric Miller

Man did not know evil before he chose to disobey his Creator. It is only between the fall of man and the coming of the new earth that evil exists. We have life and are created in God's Image to have a free and loving relationship, for His pleasure and His glory, as He is worthy to receive praise and honor, as our Creator.

Revelation 4:11 - You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for You have created all things, and for Your pleasure they are and were created.

Isaiah 43:7 - Even every one that is called by My Name: for I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Job 10:11-12 - You have clothed me with skin and flesh and have knit me with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and favor and Your visitation has preserved my spirit.

Genesis 2:15-17 - And the LORD* God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to till it and to keep it. And the LORD* God commanded the man saying, "You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but you will not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die." (v.16: Although translated garden, the basic meaning of the Hebrew word "gan" is "enclosure" referring to the walls or fences that surrounded a grove of trees in ancient lands, built to keep animals out. )

Ezekiel 18:23, 32 - Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? Says Adonai, the LORD*, and not that he should return from his ways and live?! ...For I have no pleasure in the death of the one who dies, says Adonai, the LORD*. Therefore turn3 back yourselves, and live.

Being created with free will allows makes it possible for mistakes, errors, choices and disobedience, with results being either good or evil. God is a God of Love and Mercy, but He is also a God of Justice. Yet in His Mercy He provided reconciliation thorough His Son, Who took our judgment, the justice required for redemption. Paul provides God's wisdom on His mercy and reconciliation in Romans 9:1-33.

"Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having." --C.S. Lewis

Revelation 21:1-4 - And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Our iniquities prevent God from hearing our prayers and "hides His face" from us.

Psalms 34:16 - The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalms 66:18 - If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

1 Peter 3:12-22 - Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14 - If I shut up heaven so there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people: if My people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I shall hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Isaiah 59:2 - But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

See both Apostle Paul's description (1 Corinthians 10:1-33) of the Jewish people "overthrown in the wilderness" in Deuteronomy 31:16-18, where God "hid His face."

See these parables from Jesus in Luke 13: 1-10 as well.

Isaiah 45:5-10 - I AM the LORD*, and there is no one else, there is no God besides Me. I girded you, though you have not known Me. So they will know from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is no one besides Me. I AM the LORD*, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create chaos. I AM the LORD* Who does all these things. Drop down, you heavens, from above and the skies will pour down righteousness: the earth will open and bear the fruit of salvation and acts of loving kindness will spring up as one. I AM the LORD* Who created it. Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Will the clay say to him who fashions it, What are you making? Has your work no hands? Woe to him who says to his father, What are you begetting? Or to the woman, What have you brought forth?

Deuteronomy 28 outlines God's blessings in obedience and the curses of disobedience.

Deuteronomy 29:24-29 - Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what means the heat of this great anger? Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day. The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Genesis 45:1-8 - Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; does my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence. And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. For these two years has the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Proverbs 19:23 - The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 - For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before.

Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 - And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Why and when God hides His face that causes unprotected evil to befall

Deuteronomy 31:16-18 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shall sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

1 Kings 9:1-9 - And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do, That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon. And the LORD said unto him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put My Name there for ever; and My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

And if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My judgments: Then I will establish the throne of your kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail a man upon the throne of Israel. But if you shall at all turn from following me, you or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for My Name, will I cast out of My sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: And at this house, which is high, every one that passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore has the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

Jeremiah 32:23 - ...but they obeyed not Your voice, neither walked in Your law; they have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do: therefore You have caused all this evil to come upon them:

Jeremiah 44:22-23 - So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

Romans 1:18-19 - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in  unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has showed it unto them.

Romans 3:10-27 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Natural Disasters

Excerpts from The Cause And Cure Of Earthquakes (Sermon One Hudred Twenty-Nine) by Charles Wesley (First published in the year 1750.)

Of all the judgments which the righteous God inflicts on sinners here, the most dreadful and destructive is an earthquake. This he has lately brought on our part of the earth, and thereby alarmed our fears, and bid us "prepare to meet our God!" The shocks which have been felt in divers places, since that which made this city tremble, may convince us that the danger is not over, and ought to keep us still in awe; seeing "his anger is not turned away, but his band is stretched out still." (Isa. 10:4.) That I may fall in with the design of Providence at this awful crisis, I shall take occasion from the words of my text...

I am to show you that earthquakes are the works of the Lord, and He only bringeth this destruction upon the earth. Now, that God is himself the Author, and sin the moral cause, of earthquakes, (whatever the natural cause may be,) cannot be denied by any who believe the Scriptures; for these are they which testify of Him, that it is God" which removeth the mountains, and overturneth them in his anger; which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble." (Job 9:5, 6.)

"He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth he toucheth the hills, and they smoke." (Ps. 104:32.)

"The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth." (Ps. 97:5.)

"The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt. Who can stand before his indignation, and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him." (Nahum 1:5, 6.)

Earthquakes are set forth by the inspired writers as God's proper judicial act, or the punishment of sin: Sin is the cause, earthquakes the effect, of his anger. So the Psalmist: "The earth trembled and quaked; the very foundations also of the hills shook, and were removed, because he was wroth" (Ps. 18:7.) So the Prophet Isaiah: "I will punish the world for their evil, -- and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible: -- Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shalt remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of host, and in the day of his fierce anger." (Isa. 13:11, 13.) And again. "Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty; and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down," (in the original, perverteth the face thereof,) "and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. For the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall and not rise again." (Isa. 24:1, 18-20.) "Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob." (Ps. 114:7.) "thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise." (Isa. 29:6.)

As the Book of Job teaches Christians, sometimes even those as blameless as Job, who was described by God as having "none like him in all the earth" are made to suffer.  At times like these, the evil one, the accuser, wants us to curse God and lose faith, but we learn from the Book of Job that we must never lose faith or stop loving and praising Him, even when we think we have lost everything. --Personhood Alliance

By This I Overcome the Devil - By Derek Prince

I testify to Satan personally as to what the word says
That the blood does for me.

Through the blood of Jesus,
I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil

Through the blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven

The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son,
Continually cleanses me from all sin

Through the blood of Jesus I am sanctified,
Made holy, set apart to God

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,
Redeemed, cleansed, by the blood of Jesus Christ

Satan has no place in me, no power over me
Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Let Us Cleanse Ourselves with the Blood of Jesus

Father, we cleanse our hands
With the blood of Jesus.

We apply the blood of Jesus to our eyes, Lord,
So that we might see into the Spirit realm
Clearly and with clarity.

We apply the blood of Jesus to our ears,
To cleanse our ears out of any defilement,
Wickedness, garbage, gossip or slander
That has been poured into our ears,
So that we might hear clearly
What You are speaking to us.

We apply the blood of Jesus
To our lips and to our tongue,
So that You would be able to cleanse us
Of those things that we have spoken
That really haven't been of You at all.

Father, we apply the blood of Jesus
To our hearts and our minds -
The heart being the production center of the soul
That produces all the emotions and thoughts.

So Father, we ask You to put the blood of Jesus
On our hearts, our thoughts, and our emotions
And to cleanse our minds from the dead works
So that we might serve the living God.

Father, we apply the blood of Jesus to our feet.
Cleanse us from the corruption in this world
And from the dust of the world.

Father, cleanse us of those places
In which we have walked
That really haven't been ordered of You.

Lord, we receive the words of the Bible that say,
The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.
We will have holy steps
Walking on that highway of holiness.
