"Pride goes before destruction"
Proverbs 16:18

He that is of God, hears God's words you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God. John 8:47

Jesus said: "He that has ears to hear, let him hear. But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, And saying, We have piped unto you, and you have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and you have not lamented. For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And you, Capernaum, which are exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you. At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." Matthew 11:15-27

Don't let pride allow the thief steal what God has to offer

"Pride slays thanksgiving, but an humble mind is the soil out of which thanks naturally grow. A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for he never thinks he gets as much as he deserves." --Henry Ward Beecher

"Pride goes before destruction" - sin - and will rob you of God's gifts. Pride was why Lucifer fell. God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

Seek not your own glory because of pride, in humility seek only His glory. Our glory must be His glory. Our wisdom must be His wisdom. Seek not the glory and pride of man, seek to please God alone.

"But he gives more grace. Wherefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble." James 4:6

"By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life." Proverbs 22:4

"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil." Proverbs 8:13

The Will of Christ "For we can only live it when, Thou livest in our hearts."

A person dies and in his will leaves his wealth and property to those he has chosen.  Whether or not they are deserving of those gifts, they would boldly go to the executor of that will to claim their inheritance. The will of Christ has left His church the promises of God. A Christian must boldly go to the Holy Spirit, the executor of Christ's will, to claim his inheritance. It matters not if the Christian thinks he does not deserver the gifts of God, for they were freely given to him without reservation. How does Christ live in our hearts? See Do you KNOW Him? Prayer: "Not only does sin hinder prayer; prayer hinders sin.  The two are always opposed.  The more careless we are about sin, the less we will pray.   The more we pray, the less careless we will be about sin.  Both sin and prayer are powerful forces.  Which one is moving you?" Dr. Alvin Vander Griend - National Facilitator of Lighthouse Ministries for The Mission America Coalition.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 18:2-4

Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! Mark 10:23-24

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Galatians 6:7-8

It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. My soul melts for heaviness: strengthen me Lord according to your word. Psalm 1:20-2

Therefore I speak to them in parables: because they seeing, see not; and hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Matthew 13:13-15
