Ask Senate Committee to Vote Against Daschle - Obama has nominated pro-abortion lawmaker for HHS post. Former Sen. Tom Daschle has voted to force taxpayers to fund abortions on military bases. He voted for a Senate resolution endorsing Roe v. Wade. And as Senate majority leader, he helped to block a vote on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. And President-elect Barack Obama wants this man as his secretary of Health and Human Services.

What Price Life? Health-Care Rationing in Britain - Bruce Hardy probably doesn’t have long to live. But he could live longer, if it weren’t for the attitude and policies of the British *government." As recounted in a New York Times article, Mr. Hardy has kidney cancer that has spread to his lung. His doctor wanted him to take an expensive but effective new drug that has been shown to delay cancer progression for six months. But Her Majesty’s government refused the request. The Times reports: “If the Hardys lived in the United States or just about any European country . . . Mr. Hardy would most likely get the drug, although he might have to pay part of the cost. . . . But at that price, Mr. Hardy’s life is not worth prolonging according to a British government agency, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.”

...The Hardy case highlights many of the problems with socialized medicine: government rationing of health care, a lack of options, and an ultimate devaluation of human life. Remember, in most other countries, Mr. Hardy could have his treatment if he paid for part of it—but Britain isn’t even giving him that choice. The government makes the health-care decisions. It’s all out of his hands. And the really scary thing is that other countries are starting to look to Britain as an example of how to manage health care!

Free Ride: UAW Bosses Want Taxpayers (and Workers) to Foot the Bill for Their Fat Cat Lifestyles  Today, columnist Michelle Malkin did a follow up piece on the United Autoworkers (UAW) union for-profit "championship caliber" golf course and "family education center" that has lost over $23 million in the past five years. Malkin examined the financial reports of the UAW union and found that UAW forced union dues expenditures are going into a lot more than the $33 million golf course and "family education center" that has lost over $23 million in the past five years.
Charles Krauthammer - "There's only one grievance and Hamas is open about it. Israel's very existence. Nor does Hamas conceal its strategy. Provoke conflict. Cal Thomas - "Hamas and its terrorist cousins know how to play the public relations game. Most recently we saw it in Lebanon with Hezbollah, as we have seen it in so many other places. In some cases, in order to embellish the drama, bodies have been planted in rubble, along with a child's toy. Bush 'flagrantly' disobeying law in using TARP funds - A regulatory expert says President Bush is flagrantly ignoring the law by using money from the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) for a second bailout of General Motors.The government's bailout of the auto industry has swelled to $23.4 billion after the White House committed to send GM and its financing arm an extra $6 billion.

Democrats, unions 'undercut' right to secret ballot - An effort has been launched to counter an impending move by the Democratic-controlled Congress to eliminate the secret ballot rights of union employees. A group called Save Our Secret Ballot has initiated a campaign to amend state constitutions in Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri, Nevada, and Utah to require secret ballots for employees choosing representation.
 
A top legislative priority of labor union bosses and their Democratic allies in Congress is federal "card-check" legislation, also known as the Employee Free Choice Act. Under current law, a union first has to get cards from a majority of workers seeking certification. That leads then to a secret vote -- a vote that sometimes results in the defeat of the union. The Employee Free Choice Act, which is backed by unions, would do away with that secret vote, which the unions argue gives employers a chance to pressure workers against unionization. Ernest Istook, a former Republican congressman from Oklahoma, is the SOS National Advisory Board chairman. He says the issue of secret ballots is not just a freedom issue, but a civil rights issue as well.
 
"It's sad that in a time when Americans have fought for the right for people to elect their own leadership by a secret ballot in places such as Iraq, we have the U.S. Congress trying to undercut that right -- at least when it comes to members of unions," says the former lawmaker. Istook says without secret ballots Americans would lose freedom from intimidation, freedom of choice, and freedom of conscience.
 
The Employee Free Choice Act passed the U.S. House in 2007 but died in the Senate under a Republican filibuster. Unions are hopeful it will win passage in 2009 with the support of president-elect Barack Obama and a stronger Democratic majority.

Christians called to mass exodus from public schools - Critics of America's public school system have launched a new effort highlighting the need for Christians to exit the system. The initiative -- dubbed The Call to Dunkirk (video link) -- was launched by Dr. Bruce Shortt, author of The Harsh Truth About Public Schools; Rev. Voddie Baucham, author of Family Driven Faith: Doing What It Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk with God; and the founder and director of the Exodus Mandate Project, retired U.S. Army Chaplain Lt. Col. E. Ray Moore.

Moore explains the proposal. "The Call to Dunkirk is a special emergency effort to try to get other ministries, churches, pastors, and the major Christian right and pro-family movement to join with us and the other K-12 home-school ministries in rescuing the children from the public schools during the year 2009," he says. Although Christians have fought other aspects of the culture war such as homosexual "marriage," Moore contends they are losing the fight when it comes to the education of their children. "The real target of the liberals and the left has always been the children. And we can see in California where the conservatives won Proposition 8 -- the vote [was] 52 to 48 [percent] -- but...when Proposition 22 was voted on [in March 2000], they had a 61-percent margin of victory.

So the culture is turning against Christianity and against the pro-family movement primarily because we've allowed our children to be educated in their schools," he adds. "They're converting our children; we're not converting them."

Schools Led by Obama's Education Secretary Designee, Arne Duncan, Failed No-Child-Left-Behind Standard for Five Years
Homeschool Bound by: Bethany Stotts - A 2006 report by the National Center for Education Statistics (the most recent data available), finds that in 2003 1.1 million students were homeschooled nationwide, accounting for approximately 2.2% of the overall student population. Gaither, citing “movement leaders,” suggests that the number may be closer to 2 or 2.5 million. His article recounts how this growth has caused public school districts to lose millions of dollars in revenue, prompting novel innovations such as à la carte enrichment programs and virtual charter schools, known as “cybercharters.” “The Maricopa County school district in Arizona, for example, had by the year 2000 lost $34 million due to the exodus of 7,526 home schoolers. In an effort to win some of them back, the district began offering à la carte services through satellite campuses at strip malls and other locations,” he writes. “Home schoolers there have attended weekly enrichment classes in such subjects as sign language, art, karate, and modern dance.”

...Professor Gaither is hopeful for the future of hybrid homeschooling programs. “The increasing diversity of home schoolers and institutional configurations should not obscure the fact that many who home school still choose this option out of frustration with or protest against formal, institution-based schooling and seek to impart an alternative usually conservative Christian,” he writes. “Trends toward accommodation, adaptation, and hybridization will likely increase as U.S. education policy seeks to catch up to the sweeping demographic, technological, and economic changes taking place,” Prof. Gaither later adds. “A movement born in opposition to public schools ironically might offer public education its most promising reform paradigm for the 21st century,” he argues.

But the press snapped right back into their anti-religious hysteria for a candidate who was a Pentecostal! We want a divorce:  Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, slate it up to irreconcilable differences, and go our own ways.

Here is a model dissolution agreement.

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell (you are however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move them). We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan Hockey Moms, greedy CEO's, and Rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran , Palestine , and France , and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protestors. When our allies or way of life are under assault, we'll provide them job security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian Values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can have the U.N. But we will no longer be paying the bill. We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru Station Wagon you can find. You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing Doctors (that is practicing, Howard Dean) who will follow to your turf (sic). We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and The National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach The World To Sing, Kum Ba Ya, or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics, and you can give trickle up poverty its best shot. Since it often so offends you we'll keep our History, our Name, and our Flag.

As many pundits whine and cry about seemingly no boundaries being taught or applied, both children and adults are exhibiting this lack of foundation. This is obvious in the in the crime and corruption we are now witnessing throughout America. Along with this also is the apparent lack of justice in discipline and punishment. As proclaimed in my last op-ed, where there are no morals and no virtue, the result is an uncivil society.

In our new fast paced remote controlled world of entertainment, cell phones, and internet, is it any wonder there is no time to heed the warnings from the same American men and women of moral virtue, who created this Great Nation? As they laid the foundation for this most successful Republic, they also provided us with warnings of what would destroy the Republic. So as we Americans continue to be complacent and increasingly dependent on a government run by unbiblical politicians, we shall reap what those we elected sow. We can never claim we were not warned.

Noah Webster provided the text book, History of the United States, used for over 60 years in public schools contained this statement: "The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scripture ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws." And "All the miseries and evils which men suffer from - vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war - proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible."

Abigail Adams wrote to Mercy Otis Warren, NOVEMBER 5, 1775: "A patriot without religion in my estimation is as great a paradox as an honest Man without the fear of God. Is it possible that he whom no moral obligations bind, can have any real Good Will towards Men? Can he be a patriot who, by an openly vicious conduct, is undermining the very bonds of Society, corrupting the Morals of Youth, and by his bad example injuring the very Country he professes to patronize more than he can possibly compensate by intrepidity, generosity and honour? The Scriptures tell us 'righteousness exalteth a Nation.'"

British Statesman Edmund Burke told the National Assembly, 1791: "What is liberty without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils...madness without restraint. Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition to put moral chains upon their own appetites."

William McGuffey: Selling a million copies a year for over 100 years, McGuffey's Readers were the mainstay of public education in America. Generations of school children read them, making them some of the most influential books of all time. They were written by William McGuffey, who died MAY 4, 1873. A professor at the University of Virginia and president of Ohio University, he began one of nation's first teachers' associations. In the foreword of McGuffey's Reader, 1836, he wrote: "The Christian religion is the religion of our country. From it are derived our prevalent notions of the character of God, the great moral governor of the universe. On its doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free institutions." In McGuffey's 5th Eclectic Reader, 1879, is a lesson by William Ellery Channing, titled Religion The Only Basis of Society: "How powerless conscience would become without the belief of a God...Erase all thought and fear of God from a community, and selfishness and sensuality would absorb the whole man. Appetite, knowing no restraint...would trample in scorn on the restraints of human laws... Man would become...what the theory of atheism declares him to be-a companion for brutes."

Calvin Coolidge on September 21, 1924, America's 30th President, addressed the Holy Name Society in Washington, D.C., saying:  "The worst evil that could be inflicted upon the youth of the land would be to leave them without restraint and completely at the mercy of their own uncontrolled inclinations. Under such conditions education would be impossible, and all orderly development intellectually or morally would be hopeless." Coolidge continued: "The Declaration of Independence...claims...the ultimate source of authority by stating...they were...'appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the rectitude of' their 'intentions.'... The foundations of our independence and our Government rests upon basic religious convictions. Back of the authority of our laws is the authority of the Supreme Judge of the World, to whom we still appeal." President Coolidge concluded: "It seems to me perfectly plain that the authority of law, the right to equality, liberty and property, under American institutions, have for their foundation reverence for God. If we could imagine that to be swept away, these institutions of our American government could not long survive."

J. Edgar Hoover, Director of the FBI: For 48 years, under eight Presidents, he oversaw the Federal Bureau of Investigation, becoming famous for his dramatic campaigns to stop gangsters and organized crime. He established the use of fingerprints in law enforcement and successfully tracked down well-known criminals. FDR gave him the task of investigating foreign espionage and left-wing activist groups. J. Edgar Hoover stated: "The criminal is the product of spiritual starvation. Someone failed miserably to bring him to know God, love Him and serve Him." In the introduction to Edward L.R. Elson's book, America's Spiritual Recovery, 1954, J. Edgar Hoover wrote: "We can see all too clearly the devastating effects of Secularism on our Christian way of life. The period when it was smart to 'debunk' our traditions undermined...high standards of conduct. A rising emphasis on materialism caused a decline of 'God-centered' deeds and thoughts. The American home...ceased to be a school of moral and spiritual education. When spiritual guidance is at a low ebb, moral principles are in a state of deterioration. Secularism advances when men forget God."

"As riches increase and accumulate in few hands, as luxury prevails in society, virtue will be in a greater degree considered as only a graceful appendage of wealth, and the tendency of things will be to depart from the republican standard. This is the real disposition of human nature; it is what neither the honorable member nor myself can correct. It is a common misfortunate that awaits our State constitution, as well as all others." ..."It is an unquestionable truth, that the body of the people in every country desire sincerely its prosperity. But it is equally unquestionable that they do not possess the discernment and stability necessary for systematic government. To deny that they are frequently led into the grossest of errors, by misinformation and passion, would be a flattery which their own good sense must despise." "Independent of its connection with human destiny hereafter, the fate of republican government is indissolubly bound up with the fate of the Christian religion, and a people who reject its holy faith will find themselves the slaves of their own evil passions and of arbitrary power." Lewis Cass, A Brigadier-General in the War of 1812, Cass was Governor of the Michigan Territory where he made Indian treaties, organized townships and built roads. Appointed Secretary of War by President Andrew Jackson, Lewis Cass was a Senator, Secretary of State for President James Buchanan and the 1848 Democrat Presidential Candidate. The State of Michigan placed his statue in the U.S. Capitol's Statuary Hall.

"It is not in violence and crime that our greatest danger lies. These evils are so perfectly apparent that they very quickly arouse the moral power of the people for their suppression. A far more serious danger lurks in the shirking of those responsibilities of citizenship, where the evil may not be so noticeable but is more insidious and likely to be more devastating." Calvin Coolidge Address Before the Daughters of the American Revolution, Washington, D.C. April 19th, 1926

President Harry S Truman stated in his address to the Attorney General's Conference, February 1950:  "The fundamental basis of this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don't think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don't have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except for the State."

"Since private and publick Vices, are in Reality, though not always apparently, so nearly connected, of how much Importance, how necessary is it, that the utmost Pains be taken by the Publick, to have the Principles of Virtue early inculcated on the Minds even of children, and the moral Sense kept alive, and that the wise institutions of our Ancestors for these great Purposes be encouraged by the Government. For no people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is preservd.
